What you can order here
- On Call Express blood glucose meter: a result in 4 seconds from a 0.4 µL blood sample, a large display, five daily testing reminders, hypo and hyper alarms, a ketone test alert, and 7, 14, 30, 60 and 90-day averages.
- On Call Express test strips, 50 per box: no coding, audible fill detection, and you can add more blood if the first drop is too small, so an underfilled strip isn't wasted.
- GLUCO-CARE safety lancets, 21G / 1.8 mm, 100 per box: each lancet is a sterile, single-use device with the needle hidden before and after use, which helps prevent needlestick injuries and reuse.
Choosing a meter and strips
Diabetic test strips only work with the meter they are made for. On Call Express test strips are designed for the On Call Express meter, and calibration circuitry is built into every strip, so there is no code to set when you open a new box. If you already use an On Call Express meter, you only need to reorder strips and lancets.
When you compare meters, look at the sample size, the time to a result, how many readings it stores and averages, whether it warns you about highs and lows, and what the strips will cost you over a month. As a guide, a 50-strip box lasts about seven weeks at one test a day and about twelve days at four tests a day.
Ordering for a clinic or care facility
We supply medical practices, care homes, schools and occupational health teams as well as individual buyers. For quantity pricing, larger orders or a regular reorder, email contact@steedemedical.com or call 305-597-0607.
Orders ship within 1–2 business days. Shipping is free on the diabetic supplies on this page (the meter, test strips and safety lancets). Free shipping is not a store-wide offer, so check the shipping cost at checkout when you order other products.
When a delivery arrives, check the expiry dates and keep strips in their original closed vial, stored as printed on the vial. Strips left open to air or heat can give unreliable readings.
Getting accurate readings
- Wash and dry your hands before testing. Sugar or water on the skin can change the result.
- Close the strip vial straight after taking a strip out.
- The On Call Express system can be used with blood from the fingertip, palm or forearm. Use the palm or forearm only when your blood sugar is steady. Test on a fingertip after a meal, after exercise, when you feel unwell, or when the reading will guide an insulin dose.
- Write down or review your averages regularly and share them with your doctor or diabetes nurse.

Frequently asked questions
Do On Call Express test strips work with other meters?
No. They are made for the On Call Express meter. Using them in a different meter can give wrong readings or none at all.
How many tests does one box cover?
A box of On Call Express strips holds 50 strips, so 50 tests. A box of GLUCO-CARE safety lancets holds 100 lancets.
Do I need a prescription to order?
No. The diabetic supplies we sell are available over the counter in the US, so you can order them online without a prescription.
Can I test somewhere other than my fingertip?
Yes, the On Call Express system supports palm and forearm testing. Use those sites only when your blood sugar is steady, and use a fingertip when it may be changing quickly or when the reading will guide an insulin dose.
Do you supply clinics and care facilities?
Yes. We supply practices and facilities as well as individuals. Email contact@steedemedical.com or call 305-597-0607 for quantity pricing or a regular reorder.
